This delicious Black Bun Gourmet Burger is a flavorful twist on the classic burger. With juicy beef patties, tangy sauce, and crunchy pickled onions, it’s a satisfying and gourmet-style burger that’s perfect for a special meal.

Ingredients Needed:

For the Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup roasted red pepper, diced
  • 1 small garlic clove, minced
  • 1 tbsp pickled jalapeno, diced
  • 1 tbsp kosher dill pickle, diced
  • 2 tbsp fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 tbsp hot pepper sauce (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For the Burger Patties:

  • 2 lbs 80/20 ground beef
  • 2 small shallots, minced
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 3 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp barbecue sauce
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp black pepper

For the Build:

  • 8 black burger buns
  • Fresh lettuce leaves
  • Cheddar cheese slices
  • Pickled onions
  • Ketchup (optional)

How To Make Black Bun Gourmet Burger:

  1. Prepare the Sauce: In a medium bowl, mix olive oil, apple cider vinegar, roasted red pepper, garlic, pickled jalapeno, kosher dill pickle, cilantro, and hot pepper sauce (if using). Season with salt and pepper to taste. Set aside in the refrigerator.
  2. Make the Burger Patties: In another bowl, combine the ground beef, minced shallots, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, barbecue sauce, salt, paprika, and pepper. Mix well by hand, then refrigerate the mixture for 45–60 minutes.
  3. Cook the Patties: Preheat a grill or skillet to medium heat. Divide the beef mixture into 8 equal portions, then shape them into patties about 3/4 inch thick. Grill for 3–4 minutes per side, until browned and cooked to your preference.
  4. Assemble the Burgers: Slice the black burger buns in half. Layer each bun with a lettuce leaf, a cooked burger patty, a slice of cheddar cheese, and 1 tbsp of the prepared sauce. Top with pickled onions, jalapeno rings, and a drizzle of ketchup if desired.
